Day 4: Letting Go of “Worthiness” Thinking

One of the most common barriers to duʿāʾ is the belief that you must be worthy before you ask.

That you must fix yourself first.
That you must pray better first.
That you must be more consistent first.

This is not humility.
It is delay disguised as piety.

Allah does not respond to duʿāʾ because you deserve.
He responds because He is Allah.

Worthiness thinking centers the self. Duʿāʾ centers the Lord. The moment you realize this, asking becomes lighter.

You do not clean yourself before coming to the Healer.
You come to be healed.

📖 Qur’anic Anchor “Indeed, Allah is the Most Merciful of the merciful.” Surah Yūsuf (12:64) Mercy is not earned — it is given.

🏽 Guided Duʿāʾ Practice — Day 4

Notice any thought that begins with:

  • “I don’t deserve…”
  • “Maybe after I improve…”
  • “Once I’m better…”

Gently set it aside.
Ask anyway.

🧠 SMART Journaling — Day 4

  • Specific: What worthiness thought blocks my duʿāʾ?
  • Measurable: When did I notice it?
  • Attainable: Can I ask despite it?
  • Relevant: How does this free my relationship with Allah?
  • Time-bound: When will I practice asking freely?

My Permission Statement:

🤲🏽 Duʿāʾ O Allah, free me from conditions on Your mercy. 🌿 Inspire Society Closing You ask because He is Merciful — not because you are perfect.

Parts of this duʿāʾ expansion practice were inspired by teachings from DiscoverU Life, who host a Ramadan Visionaire Duʿāʾ Class focused on learning how to ask Allah with clarity, courage, and trust.
If you feel called to deepen your duʿāʾ practice further during Ramadan, their program may be a meaningful companion alongside this guide. If you want to check it out, here’s the link:
