Hydration With Wisdom

Hydration is often overlooked in Ramadan, yet it is one of the most impactful forms of care for the fasting body. When hydration is inadequate, the body signals distress through headaches, fatigue, irritability, dizziness, and difficulty focusing in prayer. Many women assume these symptoms are simply “part of fasting,” but often they are signs the body needs water with intention. Hydration is not about chugging water at ifṭār. It is about steady replenishment across the eating window. Wise hydration includes:
  • sipping consistently between ifṭār and suḥūr
  • pairing water with electrolytes or mineral-rich foods
  • limiting excess caffeine
  • noticing signs of dehydration early
Hydration supports digestion, circulation, mood stability, and sleep quality — all of which affect spiritual presence. Caring for hydration is not indulgence. It is preparation for worship.

🏽 SMART Journaling — Day 4
  • Specific: How will I hydrate between ifṭār and suḥūr?
  • Measurable: How many glasses or sips?
  • Attainable: Can I keep water visible?
  • Relevant: How does hydration affect my energy and prayer?
  • Time-bound: When will I check in with this tonight?
