Letting Go of Comparison Before Ramadan Begins

Comparison is one of the quietest thieves of spiritual momentum. It creeps in through social media, conversations, and internal narratives. She reads more Qur’an. She prays longer. Her Ramadan looks more intentional than mine. Comparison turns worship into competition — and faith was never meant to be competitive. Allah does not measure you against other women. He measures you against your capacity and sincerity. Comparison drains motivation because it disconnects you from your own relationship with Allah. It replaces intention with insecurity and replaces gratitude with self-criticism. Ramadan invites you to release this weight before the month begins. Ask yourself:
  • Whose Ramadan am I unconsciously trying to imitate?
  • What goals are inspired — and which are imposed?
  • What feels authentic to my season of life?
Your Ramadan does not need to look impressive to be accepted. Allah already knows:
  • your responsibilities
  • your emotional load
  • your physical limits
  • your private struggles
Releasing comparison is an act of trust. It says: Allah knows what I need better than I do. When you let go of comparison:
  • motivation becomes internal
  • worship becomes intimate
  • consistency becomes possible
Ramadan flourishes in sincerity, not visibility. Qur’anic Anchor “Allah is fully aware of what you do.” (58:7) Not what others see — what He sees. Duʿāʾ O Allah, free my heart from comparison and anchor me in sincerity. Inspire Society Reflection Your Ramadan only needs to make sense to Allah.
